Heads up! Two club reworks of the SOIL&"PIMP" Sessions jazz-punk juggernaut 'Pop Korn' by Doc Daneeka and Wafa drop on 25th October 2010. (Available on a crisp 12″ and digitally of course from the usual outlets, it's worth noting that you can bag free mp3s when you buy the 12" at the Brownswood Store.) Doc Daneeka weighs in heavy with extra helpings of percussion, shrieking horns and the obligatory obese low end. Job done. Wafa errs on the twitchier side of the tracks, flipping a wiggly bassline onto thumping kicks and soca-tinged percussion. With the horns taking centre stage, it's a sterling example of how to smash a club to pieces. No nonsense. Check them for yourself over HERE.

XLR8R premiered the official video for Ghostpoet's forthcoming single 'Cash & Carry Me Home' last week. Directed by the very talented Tim Brown (the dude behind Tinie Tempah's 'Pass Out' video amongst other gems), it's a fitting accompaniment to Ghostpoet's debut outing. XLR8R compare the young British MC's flow to "a mix between Mos Def's halfhearted croon and Tunde Adebimpe [lead singer of TV On The Radio] on quaaludes". High praise indeed.
DJs Philippe Cohen Solal and special guest El Hijo de la Cumbia play a very special after party following Gotan Project's headline show at the Troxy in London on October 25th (buy TICKETS). Phillipe Cohen Solal is the co-founder of the Gotan Project – forerunners of the new world movement who made their name infusing folkloric Argentian styles into global electronic dance music culture. Philippe's DJ sets present an organic fusion of electronic tango and future world styles, threaded together with a typically Latin flourish. El Hijo de la Cumbia ("The Son of Cumbia") is at the forefront of the heavily hyped nueva cumbia scene in Buenos Aires. Drawing on traditional Argentine instrumentation and melodies, alongside the propulsive club mechanics of dubstep and the rhythmic cadences of the Caribbean, his productions and remixes bring the beating heart of contemporary Buenos Aires into the club. All the info is over HERE, you can bag yourself a FREE DOWNLOAD from the Gotan Project 3.0 remix project over HERE and if you're curious about the whole "nueva cumbia" sound then why not download a very special DJ mix by El Hijo de la Cumbia right HERE.
