We at OpenBusiness are happy to welcome a new sponsor: Revver, which is according to its tagline "the first viral video network that pays" creators of video content. The videos are licensed under a Creative Commons license and if shared over the internet still generate revenue for their creators.
So in many regards its a perfect example of an "OpenBusiness". It not only encourages sharing, it thrives on it. The more a video spreads through the internet, the more people watch it, the more revenue it generates. We will soon write more about Revver.
The OpenBusiness initiative was started with help from the Open Society Institute, IDRC and the Arts Council England. Now OpenBusiness had a year to grow its profile online. Now it receives more than 2000 unique visitors per day and has been featured in Wired, The Economist, Open Democracy and perhaps more importantly nearly 270 blogs link to it.
In a couple of weeks we will have more bloggers from Brazil joining us. We will release some major reports and will release new tools to facilitate sharing of OpenBusiness ideas. We might take on other sponsors, but only if they fit the spirit of OpenBusiness - meaning they offer services of content not only for "free", but also that they use innovative approaches to grow the business commons.
